Mùa Xuân Của Mẹ
[ Mother’s Spring ]
Formerly “Yesterday Once More”, coming 2025.
The story follows Trang, a young Vietnamese teenager assigned female at birth, as they navigate the pressures of tradition and the challenges of gendered self-expression.
Set during Tết (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), this story reveals the tension Trang feels between their cultural heritage and desire for exploration of their masculine identity, facing family expectations to wear a traditional tight áo dài dress.
Stills from: Yi Yi (2000) dir. Edward Yang; Vive L’Amour (1994) dir. Tsai Ming-Liang; After Life (1998) dir. Hirokazu Koreeda
